‘Twas the month before Christmas, when all through the land

Every creature was dreaming, of being on island;

1. Ice Skating at Ward Center

Who says Christmas in Hawaii has to be all beautiful beaches and balmy breezes? If you are in search of a White Christmas, head to the shiny new Ward Village Ice Rink for 4,200 square feet of frozen fun. Refreshments are available for purchase, and the Ward Shopping Center provides day-long entertainment and shopping for all ages. Easily accessible by car or city bus.

2. Honolulu City Lights Tree Lighting at Honolulu Hale

Head downtown for an evening of holiday cheer at the annual tree lighting ceremony! Food booths open at 4:00 pm, followed by the tree lighting ceremony and an exciting electric light parade, beginning at 6:00 pm. Stick around for the holiday concert featuring popular local artist, KAPENA, at 7:30 pm. Free photos with Santa and rides for the kids are sure to get everyone in the Aloha, holiday spirit. Festivities continue until 11:00 pm; fun for all ages, and easily accessible by city bus and car.

3. Haleiwa Christmas Parade

Historic Haleiwa town hosts one of the most popular Christmas parades on all of Oahu. Take a beautiful drive up to the North Shore by bus or car to catch this charming event. Around 500 marchers, 45 vehicles, 5 floats and 3 bands are expected. The parade begins at Weed Circle and continues on to Kamehameha Hwy., Haleiwa Town, and ends at Haleiwa Beach Park. Since this is an evening parade, it allows for a day spent at one of the many beautiful beaches along the North Shore beforehand.

4. Breakfast with Hawaiian Santa

Come say, “Mele Kalikimaka” to Santa at the Outrigger Reef on the beach! A buffet breakfast, photos, face painting, balloon art, and the beautiful backdrop of Paradise make this a memorable day with Santa. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, steamed white rice, country fried potatoes, crispy bacon, portuguese sausage, assorted pastries, fresh fruits, cereal and coffee, milk or juice. So ono (delicious)! 5. The Amy Hanaiali’i & Willie K Holiday Show

Award-winning Hawaiian musicians Amy Hanaiali`i and Willie K collaborate this season to share beautiful renditions of popular Holiday songs with you. The concert features a full band, and master of ceremonies Rodney Villaneuva. Take advantage of this opportunity to hear two talented musicians performing many of your favorites, including Willie K.’s famous version of “O’ Holy Night.”

6. New Year’s Fireworks over Waikiki

The only thing better than a Fireworks Display on New Year’s Eve is a Fireworks Display over the Ocean, viewed from Waikiki. Over 100,000 people on Oahu watch this spectacular show every year. Beginning at 11:55 pm, one firework per minute is lit off until one minute before midnight. At this point, Honolulu turns its gaze to Waikiki, and its radios to Hawaiian 105 KINE FM to hear the Fireworks by Grucci musical accompaniment. When the clock strikes midnight, a dazzling assortment of fireworks will light up the sky and water to the tune of “Auld Lang Syne”. Over the next 10-12 minutes, around 1,800 fireworks herald the New Year in the shape of palm trees, sparkling fans, falling leaves, strobes, rings, brocades and more. The renowned Grucci Grand Finale is the crown jewel of this popular event.
